About Mel.

Hello! Thank- you for taking the time to learn about me and what I can potentially do for your health and wellbeing

I am passionate about helping people take control of their health, and getting back to feeling great so that life can be lived to the fullest. My absolute favourite thing is to see people change their lives through understanding how to treat their body with the respect it deserves. As a qualified Nutritionist, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer I have years of experience in helping people reach their health, fitness and wellness goals.

As a teenager I was extremely active. Dancing, netball, tennis and more dancing. Every night was a different physical activity. As can happen, I made some less than ideal choices in my late teens. By my early 20’s I was a heavy smoker and I relied on sugar and processed foods to give me enough energy to get me through the day. And I had stopped exercising. I was a textbook example of poor health and lifestyle choices.

Then one day about 10 years ago, I made a conscious decision- I wanted to feel good again. I quit smoking- it was HARD. I started changing my food choices bit by bit. As my studies progressed I learnt A LOT about the addictive nature of sugar. And I got moving again. All these years later I can safely say I have no regrets.

Rediscovering the joy of movement and exercise led me to become a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and shortly after that, a Pilates instructor. Since then I have helped many people from all sorts of backgrounds improve their fitness and take control of their weight and other lifestyle choices.

From here my curiosity about food and the role it plays in our overall health led me to further study, and I undertook an Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine. This learning gave me the tools to understand how what we put in our body can impact every aspect of our health.

I know that each person I see in my practice is unique and has a unique set of needs to unlock the door to their optimal health. My aim is to give you the knowledge to achieve your health and lifestyle goals. I know that for change to be truly effective, people need to understand deeply what is going on. This is why I take time to understand you and your background and tailor my services to your individual needs. And then take the time to make sure you understand what we’re doing and why.

My Approach

I believe that everyone is different and unique, and that goes for our bodies too. We each have a unique body that has it's own set of needs to perform at it's absolute best.

My approach in my practice of nutritional medicine is to take an in depth look at how your body is performing, and create your treatment plan based around what your body needs and what is going to work for you and your unique circumstances. My job is to help you understand what those needs are and how to fulfil them.

You may have been diagnosed with a specific condition, so my approach is to look at how this is showing up in your body and what the root causes are behind this condition showing up for you. In order to treat the condition we need to treat the person as a whole first, which will allow your body to heal itself or manage to thrive despite the diagnosis.

I am a believer in our digestive health as the epicentre of our entire wellbeing. If our gut health is lacking and needing some TLC, this can affect how our entire body performs, and how we ultimately feel when we get up in the morning. A healthy gut means a healthier mind and body overall. You will notice in your treatment that we always come back to how your digestive health is tracking. I would love to help you get to the root causes of your health issues and bring you back into alignment.
